The college football world is still in absolute shock about what has transpired over the last couple of days. Coaching movement has fans, alumni, students, and faculty in absolute shock. When one coach leaves that vacancy must be filled fast. Throughout college football history we see the interim tag be placed on coaches when a firing or departure occurs. The University of Notre Dame prides themselves on excellence and standing out. Jack Swarbrick the athletic director at Notre Dame is reluctant to name an interim head coach. With Brian Kelly gone there is no voice or leader of the program. Swarbrick has yet to even pick up the phone and call around for a coach. With a rising star currently on the coaching staff in Marcus Freeman the next head coach could be right under Notre Dame’s nose.

Notre Dame is a premier college football program who needs the right guidance and leadership. Brian Kelly the head football coach at Louisiana State University has found some of the best young head coaches and hired them on his staff before anyone looked at them. Matt LaFleur the current head coach of the Green Bay Packers and Robert Saleh the current head coach of the New York Jets both worked for Brian Kelly at Central Michigan University. That’s two head NFL coaches spotted and developed by Kelly before the NFL plucked them from him.

Marcus Freeman was handpicked by Brian Kelly at Notre Dame. With the departure of Kelly it’s wise for Notre Dame to give him the job before he’s plucked to another job opportunity. Freeman spent years at University of Cincinnati before being coach Kelly’s next protege. Knute Rockne the most famous coach in Notre Dame football history spent years working for the program and produced wins. Before anyone else comes calling offer the head coaching job to the modern day Rockne Marcus Freeman.
